Palworld – Tips and Tricks That Improved My Play Speed by Alot

Useful Tips and Tricks

Warning: The following contains hefty spoilers and might ruin alot of your game experience. Do not read it unless you are at lvl 45-50 or looked up how to breed Anubis early. Alot of lost game magic is by figuring stuff out yourself!

Movement

Sliding: You can slide downhill to gain momentum. This also works in tunnels to alpha bosses. You trigger sliding while pressing c during certain momentum, while sprinting or landing (press c while airborn)

Grappling Gun: The grappling gun is the mainweapon to move around while overloaded. Use it to farm ores faster while jumping from ore to ore. The physic of it tho doesnt make you stop your motion and pulls you, thats why you get a jump when using it on ground. It gives good momentum and can be cancled via ctrl, which is important for chaining movements.

Glider: Whenever pressing the glide in midair, it resets the falldmg. Else it keeps your momentum, which is important for chains.

Chain-Movement: While having good momentum, you want to get into your glide to not lose it. Easiest way is to start the glide with high momentum is out of a slide. Else the grappling gun is the go to momentum giver. Grapple the ground and ctrl>space as soon as you have momentum, for the base grapplinggun flight. use it when jumping of from mountains, else grapple stuff above you and ctrl>space.

Farming / Base / Pathing

Base: When you play with others and want a big flat area, go for a spot like x:150 y:150 to have a dungeon in front of your door for technology points and free honey. Else get a spot with good ore spawn and build a highraised foundation around it. Keep in mind that foundations are the refference point for buildings above, chained to this foundation. To get the right elevation, go to the deepes spot and make the foundation as high as possible. this way you ensure an even terrain in uneven terrain. Walls must be 4 walls high in both camp styles, cause jormuntide gets stuck otherwise. Holes for Pals and stairs must be at least 2 wide, while i didnt test it enough with jormuntide and always went for 3 stairs setup. The gap from stairs must be 4 units long aswell. you can fully raid protect still per walls around the base.

Pathing: Pathing sucks cause people mostly not ensure enough space, like building only 3 walls high or 2unit long gaps at stairs. get a high foundation and always put stairs on it. make sure the paths are always 2-3 units long, especially in corners. always put a box next to a production side to keep paths small. it does not matter wher mats lie in your camp, you can use them. in order keep it sorted, every side should has it own box, so no other materials land in them. pals will always try to work on the correct side of units.

Priority: Alot of problems, which people might expect to be pathing, is from structural units. The production things for stone and wood have higher priority than production of player items. for example: you have 3 anubis and all work on the stone side. if you want your balls to be produced and have no other worker, no anubis will help you/work for you, since the stone side has higher prio. destroy it and they will come running if having enough units space, which should be 1 unit in anubis case, making him the top early base pal.

Food: Food deplenishes by one unit per cooldown. All food crafted in your camp goes into the foodbowl. The food in the left spot gets eaten first, thats why you should cook a good amount of food or just berrys and put them in first spot, to ensure the farming of food.

Farming: As soon as you got your 2nd base, keep it and use it to port back. The 2nd or later 3rd pal box will always be your mobile port back. always keep it on the map until you need it. open the map and kill the teleport with v and get the pal box materials directly into your inventory. now you can build the pal box in front of you. do this BEFORE you start mining, to not block an ore respawn and not hassle with grappling gun while beeing overloaded on uneven terrain. Once you got the 3rd base, dedicate your 2nd base as an ore mining expansion, where you can also put your stone side. Always port there from time to time to unfreeze it (bug). Sword becomes a good alternative for axe and pickaxe. Put away your axe, keep pickaxe.

Good Locations for Mats:

  • Ore: x70 y-400; x155 y-395
  • Stone Coal: x265 y215
  • Fruits: x300 y245
  • Sulfur: x-595 y-530 (In front of the tower).

Doesnt weight much so just drop chunks in front of port back and port back overcumburedprecious coal or whatever its name: x-135 y575 (fruit and dungeon nearby).

Pals / Misc.

Attacks: Every Pal can learn every attack via Fruits. Attacks have CT (cooldowntimer in sec), DMG and Elementaltype. If the Elementtype of the Attack matches the Pal, then the attack becomes 20% Stronger. This is called STAB (same type attack bonus). To dodge enemy attacks you have iframes while rolling and your pals have iframes while interfering with spheres. you can always call your pal back before he gets hit by a 150dmg attack to save him from another 50-55sec from it. you can change attacks during combat but they will be applied, when you resummon your pal.

XP: Its insane how much xp you get when catching pals until 10, compared to fighting. Make always sure to ramp up the ball production. Keep in mind that nights and dungeons house unique pals, else learn how to speadread in the paldex. (not confirmed by me: you can level pals in towers)

Pal Stats: This might be controvers, since all LOVES to breed pals with good passives. Pals have a value, which makes them stronger than other pals. The same pal at the same level with the same passive will have different HP/ATK/DEF. i suggest keeping an eye on this. my jetragon has close to 1300atk and is only 3/4 at lvl 50 and its not bred. i cought 4, picked the best and send rest to breed. i saw pals beeing way stronger at lvl 45 than their counterpart with the better passive when farming jormuntide ignis.

Breeding: cakes do reset deplenish timer in the farm and dont replenish at all. do not keep your cake on the stove, just bring it to the farm. your eggs love either warmth or cold. put an electric heater next to your eggs to half the speed timer.

Medicine: Apply them with the sick pals in party.

Shops: Horns and bones in the early city, pal fat, 2nd tier balls and ammunition aswell in the dessert. both places have oppurtunities to sell pals. try not to buy ammo or pals, since they are super expensive and you will like to buy horns for medicine, bones for cement and fat for weapons. balls for low tier pals

Player Stats: Personal Prio after finishing the game and beeing sad to not beeing able to respec, due to the bug: Attack > HP > Stamina > Weight > Working tempo. You can always carry more weight with cattiva or kingpaca in your inventory. your pals work way faster than you in late game anyway. stamina is only important to some degree if you only slightly stamina management. hp gets coverd alot by the shield and it is easy to dodge most of the attacks. you need a shitton of attack ideally for the last tower, since the endboss has 200k hp and you pump easily 1200-1300 rounds into him, while your pal is stuck on 50sec cooldowntimers.

Death: This is not dark souls, so in vanilla you can “always”(world item limit on vanilla normal is 3000) loot your corpse. every corpse gets displayed by an X on the map. you can loot all along the white line coming from your corpse, if you wish to evoid the alpha pal who just killed you or are woried, if you can retrieve your items after clipping into a stone and dying there.

Dungeons: Always stick to one side while traversing (either always left or right). This way you will never miss your location in a dungeon and always land to the boss quite fast.

Bugfixes

Game crashing on loading the save: Disable multiplayer in the world, load the game as single player and position your char away from working pals. reload world in multiplayer.

Pals beeing stuck or not working: put pal into inventory and back to camp. reloading the world resets all pals in camp at once.

Pals not accepting a structure: rebuild it or wait. usually they will “find” it again after some time, if the pathing was provenly correct and they werent tired.

My first game was Naughty Dog’s Crash Bandicoot (PlayStation) back in 1996. And since then gaming has been my main hobby. I turned my passion for gaming into a job by starting my first geek blog in 2009. When I’m not working on the site, I play mostly on my PlayStation. But I also love outdoor activities and especially skiing.
