Hope this is helpful for anyone aiming to get the ‘Legend of the Land’ achievement, or who simply wants to befriend the prettiest and wackiest creatures in the game!

Spawn Conditions

For a Rare variant of a species to spawn, you will need to:

• Have tamed at least 4 different variants of that species.
• Have tamed at least 8 animals of that species in total.

For a Legendary variant of a species to spawn, you will need to:

• Be in Year 2 of the game or later.
• Have tamed at least 6 different variants of that species.
• Have tamed at least 12 animals of that species in total.

What counts as having tamed an animal?

For the purpose of spawn conditions, you can count:

• Animals you have tamed and invited to the village.
• Animals you had tamed and invited to the village, but have since released.
• NOT animals that have been born via breeding.
