The Bazaar – Steam Deck Guide

How to Play on Steam Deck

Getting the Tempo Launcher working wasn’t too bad for me.

  • Enter Desktop mode on your deck
  • Go to playthebazaar.com and download the Windows launcher
  • From desktop steam go to Games > Add a Non-Steam Game, browse to your Downloads folder and select the Tempo Launcher.exe
  • Go back to the normal steam deck mode, press R1 a few times to go to Non-Steam Games and select the Tempo Launcher.exe
  • Go to Settings > Properties > Compatibility, check the box and select Proton Experimental
  • You’re ready to launch and login
  • Enjoy!

Checking for Updates Issue

For the guys who had the “checking for updates” infinite load screen this is what fixed it for me (I have regular Linux PC, not Steam Deck):

  • Remove non steam game of tempo launcher.
  • Add non steam game > browse to and select tempo launcher setup.exe
  • Run with proton experimental.
  • Install launcher, UNCHECK “run tempo launcher” at end of install.
  • Go to the non-steam game properties and change “target” path to the tempo launcher you installed.
  • Run again, it will check for updates, let it update the launcher but UNCHECK the “run tempo launcher” checkbox at the end of the update.
  • Once you run it one last time it should work.

Note: Basically whenever a download happens always uncheck the “run tempo launcher” checkbox.

Can’t Get It to Run after the Upgrade

Here are the steps you seem to need whenever there is an update:

  • Go to desktop mode.
  • Remove both the launcher and the launcher installer from your games list.
  • Redownload the game from the website.
  • Add the installer as a non-steam game.
  • Switch back to gaming mode from desktop mode [probably optional].
  • Set the launcher installer compatibility to proton experimental.
  • Launch, wait for application to update, sometimes the launcher will load before the update so give it a minute.
  • Login and and hit install.
  • Hit play when the install is complete [probably optional].
  • Game should work now but then you’ll want to add the actual application back to your library.

In case you need it again:

/home/deck/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata

Then you look for the folder that it was installed in (for me its typically the last one, which has the most digits) then:

/pfx/drive_c/program files/Tempo Launcher - beta/Tempo Launcher -beta.exe
  • Switch back to gaming mode from desktop mode.
  • Set the launcher compatibility to proton experimental.
  • Hit play on the Launcher instead of the installer and you should be good to go.

I’ve been able to play using that method for both updates.

My first game was Naughty Dog’s Crash Bandicoot (PlayStation) back in 1996. And since then gaming has been my main hobby. I turned my passion for gaming into a job by starting my first geek blog in 2009. When I’m not working on the site, I play mostly on my PlayStation. But I also love outdoor activities and especially skiing.
