Using the Steam Deck for HL2DM.
Guide to Steam Deck
Introduction
This guide is for people who are using the Steam Deck for whatever reason, and need help getting it to work for HL2DM. This guide will show you how to connect to all servers and controller configuration.
Connecting to VAC Servers
Normally, you’d be able to connect to all servers, however on the Steam Deck you need to change a simple setting in order to connect to VAC servers.
- Step 1 – Go to the library page for HL2DM (where you can press “play”) and click the settings box.
- Step 2 – Go to Properties, then to Compatibility.
- Step 3 – Enable “Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool”.
- Step 4 – On the drop-down menu below the check mark, scroll all the way down and click “Steam Linux Runtime”.
- Step 5 – Test to make sure you can connect to VAC Secured servers, by attempting to connect to one.
Controller Configuration
I personally have Shift bound to L4 (top left back button), scrolling through weapons as pressing the left and right track pad as a D-Pad, and the rest as defaults. I have the gyro aim disabled, and I personally use the track pads to control and aim the mouse.
