The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered – Speak to Chancellor Ocato Bug Fix

Allies for Bruma: How to Speak to Chancellor Ocato

Ву IndyJen.

Here’s how to get past a bug and talk to Chancellor Ocato for the ‘Allies for Bruma’ quest in Oblivion.

Sometimes, a glitch in the game stops you from starting a conversation with Chancellor Ocato for this quest. This happens in both the old and newer versions of the game.

Talking to him is not required to finish the main quest, but if you still want to do this part, you can use console commands. This guide shows you how to use commands to get to Ocato without getting a bounty. Using something to keep achievements active while using commands might be a good idea.

Here’s what to do:

  1. Make sure ‘Allies for Bruma’ is your active quest in the journal.
  2. Go inside the Imperial Palace building where Ocato is.
  3. Open the console and type these commands, pressing Enter after each one: tdetect movetoqt
  4. You should now be next to Chancellor Ocato. Talk to him and go through all his conversation options.
  5. When you are finished talking to him, open the console again and type these commands, pressing Enter after each: player.moveto 00037233 300 0 0 tdetect

This should move you back near the entrance and turn detection back on. You’ve now finished this optional part of the quest.

My first game was Naughty Dog’s Crash Bandicoot (PlayStation) back in 1996. And since then gaming has been my main hobby. I turned my passion for gaming into a job by starting my first geek blog in 2009. When I’m not working on the site, I play mostly on my PlayStation. But I also love outdoor activities and especially skiing.
