Stellaris – How to Play Necroids

Tips for Playing Necroids

Necrophage is simple in premise but has a lot of moving parts.

  • It is reccomended to make your main necrophage species a Lithoid for the habitabilty and because you’ll never naturally be growing it anywhere.
  • Take other traits with the knowledge that only they should be running specialists and rulers.
  • Build your servile species around the worker jobs you dont want your main species to work. You additionally have the flexibility of quickly getting two other species in your empire should you choose them so feel free to specialize them.

You get an insane tempo lead on other empires by not needing to settle or colonize your guarneteed planets since they’re pre-ftl so make sure to play around that lack of needing a colony ship and have these pre-ftl invaded ASAP.

From here you can choose whether you necrophage them for more pops or simply maintiain the status quo with the necrophage chamber of elevation.

The chamber of elevation is uncomplicated. Build them, you’ll turn bad pops into your good pops. Your earlygame consists of an early lead and added flexiblity from extra/more types of pops.

The mid/late game consist mostly of just deciding which species you’re happy to purge and turn into your main species. This origin is really flexible but those are my main takeaways from playing it.

Some Smaller Notes:

  • Keep in mind your leaders effectivly have free venerable, you’ll not lose them and you should depriotiize leader lifespan for the most part.
  • If you go genocidal you can just ignore most of the guide and just… play as a good species which kills everything to get better pops.

My first game was Naughty Dog’s Crash Bandicoot (PlayStation) back in 1996. And since then gaming has been my main hobby. I turned my passion for gaming into a job by starting my first geek blog in 2009. When I’m not working on the site, I play mostly on my PlayStation. But I also love outdoor activities and especially skiing.
