Quick Guide to Recipe Ratios
Ву Smithy64.
Basically, it does two things:
- It shows you how many parts or materials are needed to make another specific part.
- It helps you compare the selling prices of different items on the game’s market.
Let’s take an example: Imagine you’re trying to figure out if it’s better to sell Plastic or use it to make Substrate Matrix and sell that instead.
- First, find ‘Substrate Matrix’ in the list on the left side of the chart.
- Then, look across that row until you find the column for ‘Plastic’. The number you see there is ‘2’.
- This means it takes 2 Plastic to make 1 Substrate Matrix.
- So, for it to be worth making and selling the Substrate Matrix, its price on the market should be more than two times the price of Plastic. If it’s not, you might be better off just selling the Plastic.
You can also look at it the other way around:
- Find ‘Plastic’ in the list on the left.
- Look across that row to the ‘Substrate Matrix’ column. The number there is ‘0.5’.
- This means that for selling Plastic directly to be worthwhile compared to using it for Substrate Matrix, its market price should be higher than half the market price of Substrate Matrix.
Just keep this in mind: This kind of direct comparison works well when looking at one ingredient making one product. If you’re crafting something more complex that needs several different types of ingredients, you should add up the costs of all the required parts first (using the amounts shown in the chart). Then, compare that total combined cost to the market selling price of the final item you craft.
