Fruit, Vegetables, Nuts & Seeds, and Artificial Meat

So after doing some tests, using the grow beds in the abandoned mining station, I managed to test a few things:

Plants have an eight cycle grow phase:

  1. 0% – 12.5% – Planting Phase
  2. 12.5% to 25% – Tending crops
  3. 25% to 37.5% (38%) – Tending Crops
  4. 37.5% (38%) to 50% – Tending Crops
  5. 50% to 62.5% (63%) – Tending Crops
  6. 62.5% (63%) to 75% – Tending Crops
  7. 75% to 82.5% (83%) – Tending Crops
  8. 82.5% (83%) to 100% – Harvest Phase

Time to grow each food type (with the 10% growth time research calculated in):

Vegetables and Fruits, at 100% growing rate, go up one percent per hour. Meaning, if kept at that rate, it takes 90 hours, 3.75 days, per growth cycle.

Nuts & Seeds, at 100% growing rate, go up one percent every ninety minuets. Meaning, if kept at that rate, it take 135 hours, 5.525 days, per growth cycle.

Using the metrics I used in my earlier post, 2 Fruits and Vegetables per 1 Artificial Meat and Nuts & Seeds, I came to this calculation:

  • Number of dedicated Fruit beds: Fruit per day x growth time = 2 x 3.75 = 7.5 (8)
  • Number of dedicated Vegetable beds: Vegetables per day x growth time = 2 x 3.75 = 7.5 (8)
  • Number of dedicated Nuts & Seeds beds: Nuts & Seeds per day x growth time = 1 x 5.525 = 5.525 (6)
  • Number of dedicated Artificial Meat beds: Artificial Meat per day x growth time = 1 x 5.25 = 5.25 (6) (Needs to be verified)

Totaling twenty-eight grow beds per ten crew. (8 + 8 + 6 + 6 = 28)

I then took this data and used it to find a meeting points using LCM:

I found the LCM equated to forty-five days for all three.

  • 3 3/4 x 12 -> 15/4 x 12/1 -> 180/4 = 45 days
  • 5 5/8 x 8 -> 45/8 x 8/1 -> 36/8 = 45 day

Meaning every 12 growth cycles of Fruits and Vegetables is equal to 8 growth cycles of Nuts & Seeds.

  • The amount of Fruits grown every forty-five days is ninety-six. (8 x 12 = 96)
  • The amount of Vegetables grown every forty-five days is ninety-six. (8 x 12 = 96)
  • The amount of Nuts & Seeds grown every forty-five days is forty-eight. (6 x 8 = 48)
  • The amount of Artificial Meat grown every forty-five days is forty-eight. (6 x 8 = 48) (Needs to be verified)
  • The amount of Fruits consumed every forty-five days is ninety. (2 x 45 = 45)
  • The amount of Vegetables consumed every forty-five days is ninety. (2 x 45 = 45)
  • The amount of Nuts & Seeds consumed every forty-five days is forty-five. (2 x 45 = 45)
  • The amount of Artificial Meat consumed every forty-five days is forty-five. (2 x 45 = 45)

Meaning you would have a surplus of six Fruits, six Vegetables, three Nuts & Seeds, and three Artificial Meat (Needs to be verified).

However, once factoring in the time it takes to tend them six times, the 75% reduction in growth during that time, and the travel time to get there, you should break even, if not slightly above.
