Old Market Simulator – Quick Guide to Fishing & Sailing

Fishing & Sailing Guide for Noobs

Purchase a boat, paddle and fishing rod

Visit the Lumberjack to purchase a boat, paddle, and fishing rod. If you prefer not to venture far from the island, you can simply purchase a fishing rod and catch fish from the coast.

Place the boat to the sea

Once you’ve purchased the boat, place it in the sea.

Paddle

To paddle, click the left mouse button (LMB) and the boat will move in the direction you’re facing. Remember, paddles have durability, so it’s wise to carry an extra one.

Cast a rod

Hold left mouse button to cast your fishing rod when you find a good fishing spot. Watch your rod – when a fish bites, it will shake. Click left mouse button again quickly to catch the fish, or it will escape. Remember that fishing rods can break after multiple uses. Sometimes you might catch trash instead of fish.

Catching special fish

There are special fish around the island. You can find a map on your boat to help locate them. Paddle to the marked spot on the map. To confirm you’re in the right place, dive into the water, you should see the special fish beneath the surface. If you don’t see them, keep swimming around until you do. Once you’re in the correct position, cast your rod. However, special fish have a lower catch rate, so you might not catch one every time.

Purchase a fish stand

To sell the fish you catch, you’ll need to buy a fish stand from the Lumberjack. Once purchased, place the fish on the stand for sale.

My first game was Naughty Dog’s Crash Bandicoot (PlayStation) back in 1996. And since then gaming has been my main hobby. I turned my passion for gaming into a job by starting my first geek blog in 2009. When I’m not working on the site, I play mostly on my PlayStation. But I also love outdoor activities and especially skiing.
