A brief overview of fire support options.

Air Support

Gun Run (US) – 10s arrival time

This is the basic air support for the American faction. Two planes will strafe the target area in a straight line with armor piercing rounds. These rounds can penetrate cover which makes this an effective support option against targets hiding in buildings. However, its area of effect is minimal so don’t expect it to clear a capture point completely. Note that the planes will only approach the target in the direction you’re facing when you call them in (i.e. if you face north and call them in they will approach from behind you and strafe in a line going north).

Typhoon Strike (CW)
– 10s arrival time

This is the basic air support for the Commonwealth faction. A plane will strafe the target area in a straight line with rockets. This support option is effective against targets in the open but has poor penetration, making it a poor option against targets in buildings or heavy cover (unless the rocket manages to go through a window or other opening). Like the gun run, it will approach in the direction you face as you call it in.

Stuka Bomber (Germany)
– 30s to impact

This is the basic air support for the German faction. A plane will deliver a single bunker buster to the target area. This support option is easily the most effective in the game. The bomb has a large radius and can easily clear a capture point in a single strike due to its ability to penetrate heavy cover. It is best used against targets in buildings / heavy cover.

Bombing Run
– 20s to impact

This is the heavy air support option available for all factions. Two bombers will deliver their payload in straight line over the target area. This support option is devastating against targets in the open and also has a decent chance of killing targets hiding in buildings and medium cover.

Artillery

Explosive Artillery – 35s to first impact

This is a standard support option available for all factions. Artillery hits the target area with explosive shells for approximately 15s. This support option is effective against targets in the open but is extremely unlikely to kill targets in buildings or other overhead cover. It is also effective for brief area denial.

Smoke Artillery – 30s to first impact

This is a standard support option available for all factions. Artillery hits the target area with smoke shells for approximately 15s. This support option is essential to providing your team with cover over a large, open area.

Incendiary Artillery (CW) – 30s to first impact

This support option is only available for the Commonwealth faction. Artillery hits the target area with incendiary shells for approximately 15s. This support option is not likely to kill targets but is better used for area denial. Call it in behind a capture point to buy your team extra time to cap.

Other

Supply Drop – 20s arrival time

This is a support option available to all factions. A plane flies over the map and delivers a single supply crate to the target area. Teammates can use this crate to replenish both health and ammo.

I turned my passion for gaming into a job by starting my first geek blog in 2009. When I’m not working on the site, I play mostly on my PlayStation. But I also love outdoor activities and especially skiing.
