Gameplay Questions
Are dungeons balanced around having 1 tank, 1 healer, and 2 dps?
Yes, dungeons are balanced around having 1 tank, 1 healer, and 2 dps. That is how tuning is being done. Although, there is no requirement to play this specific comp. If you wanted to play 4 healer, 4 tanks, or any manner of combination, it is your choice.
Will there be raids?
Yes, raids are planned.
How long will it take to get to end-game content?
The development team has stated that they want to have super low time commitment. This will allow players who can’t play for 100h to quickly get into the fun part of the game.
The UI is very simple, is that intended?
It is currently in Alpha, so changes may come in the future.
Will we be able to compete with other players inside the same instance for loot?
It is not planned to be incorporated, but that is something that they are willing to look into.
Is Fellowship designed with PUGs or premade groups in mind?
They will cater to both crowds of people.
I don’t want to spend $30 to play 2 or 3 dungeons.
The Alpha already has more than that.
Are there target dummies to test abilities and talents?
Yes, there are target dummies in the lobby.
How will difficulty scaling work?
There are toggleable Ascensions and Curses (Affixes) to the dungeon, as well as scaleable difficulty level.
Will Ascensions and Curses affect the type of gear we receive?
The different modifiers impact loot quality in different ways as well as allowing different slots to drop etc.
Infinitely scaling can seem pretty lazy and creates mechanics that just become one shots at higher difficulty with little counter play. How do you plan on addressing this?
They don’t want to limit the ability for players to push the limit of what is possible. But they also don’t want the design to seem lazy when approaching the infinite scaling. This will be something that they actively work on.
Will there be a story behind why we are in these dungeons?
Yes, no, maybe so.
Does the team understand the importance of having new content available to players when it comes to a seasonal structure of the game?
Considering how many of us have worked on projects that have stayed live and fresh for years, yes – we will get there.
Personal Note: This response kind of makes it seem like there is a leaning toward seasonality. It is unknown whether this means we would get an M+ style season, where we are locked to 8 dungeons, or if there will be a seasonal affix and we are allowed to play any of the dungeons that they have created.
How will gearing work in this game?
“The gear system is similar, we’ve been working on a few iterations/changes compared to what folks are used to with wow.”
I am worried about being forced into playing a meta, how will you deal with this problem?
There will always be meta talents, gear, classes, the only thing that they can do is mitigate how much of an impact it has on the player base. For the most part, they want talent choices to be based on what your group is playing and your group’s goals.
How will leaderboards work?
They are unsure how granular the leaderboard will be at launch. For example, warcraftlogs, where you can see individual spell casts. Or with Raider.io where you can look at talents and gear, or even routing for dungeons.
I am worried that tier sets and talents will just be stat boosts.
“There is some experimentation with moving beyond just stat boots/mixing with talents, I’m excited to see how it works out.”
Will there be a ping or some system that provides us with the ability to give our party quick information?
Yes, this is currently being planned with markers, although this will not be in place for the Alpha.
Character Customization
Will gear have a visual effect on the Player Character?
Yes, the gear you put on will have a visual change to your chosen character’s appearance.
Gear color customization?
Hamish has said that this is the direction that they are going for.
Character customization, changing hair styles, features, etc.
No, there are no plans currently to add character customization.
Will there be mounts in the game?
Although the trailer does not show mounts, Hamish has said that there are mounts.
Monetization
What is the current planned method of monetization?
The publisher, ARC_dash, has stated that this will be a premium title. However, CR_Bretton has said that he is excited to talk about what people are most interested in, in terms of monetization. This suggests that there may be changes to this in the future.
Alpha
Will I be able to share information about the game?
If you are accepted into the closed alpha, it is for your eyes only. You won’t be allowed to share information about the game to anyone.
What servers will be available?
There will be a US and EU server
Will there be future testing for different alpha or beta builds?
Yes there will be!
When does the Alpha start?
The Closed Alpha starts on the 15th. This will be at 7am – 5pm Pacific on the 15th and 10am – 5pm pacific for the 16th – 20th
When will I get notified about being accepted into the alpha?
If you are accepted you will receive an email on the 14th or 15th of August.
What damage types will be available (ranged or melee)?
This alpha test only has ranged dps.
How many character will be testable on the Alpha?
There will be 2 of each trinity type. So there will be 2 tanks, 2 healers, and 2 dps available for testing.
