Valheim – How to Train Weapon Skills, Woodcutting and Pickaxes

Effective method to train skills in an efficient (though boring) manner.

Combat Range

Combat skills are easy to train by simply hitting any object that can register damage, actually dealing damage however is not required to train it, hitting trees and rocks will give you experience aplenty.

These images below should give you an idea of what you need to do for an effective range.

With a proper range you can level:

  • Axes*
  • Blunt
  • Bows
  • Knives
  • Pickaxes
  • Polearms
  • Spears
  • Swords
  • Unarmed
  • Wood Cutting**

*Axes will be leveled when hitting a rock.

**Wood Cutting will be leveled while hitting a tree, using a rock or flint axe against a birch tree will still level Wood Cutting.

Basic items that can be repaired by a workbench are recommended when possible if you cant place a forge within your range.

Having both the Rested and Resting bonuses will provide +400% increased stamina regeneration, make sure you are in range of a fire to trigger both of these bonuses.

My first game was Naughty Dog’s Crash Bandicoot (PlayStation) back in 1996. And since then gaming has been my main hobby. I turned my passion for gaming into a job by starting my first geek blog in 2009. When I’m not working on the site, I play mostly on my PlayStation. But I also love outdoor activities and especially skiing.
