Guide to Beating Starscourge Radahn

Strategy

I’m going to get right into it, here’s my strategy for beating Radahn. This does not include Sorceries or Incantations.

General information:

The boss arena has golden summon signs that allow for you to bring in many allies. This is practically mandatory if you do not have the HP or skill to spare. In my experience, the fight is near impossible without summoning in these allies. If one of these summons die, you can re-summon them. It is also to note that summoning other real people is impractical. Due to the HP scaling applied when another person is invited, and that said person is about as useful as one of your summons, it only serves to hinder you.

How to get past the arrows:

There are two strategies I know of for getting past the arrows. The first one is more ‘risky’ than the other, and frankly only saves a minimal amount of time of you getting to the boss.

Strat 1: Close the distance on foot when Radahn is shooting his gravity arrows, then ride on horseback to weave through his sky-barrage and shotgun-like arrow blasts.

Strat 2: Don’t approach at all, and summon in the allies. Keep dodging the gravity arrows until Radahn goes after one of the allies. Once he’s occupied, you can go in and summon the people up the path. Do not get close enough for him to trigger his sky-barrage when waiting for your allies to close the distance.

How to fight Radahn in melee combat:

The difference between fighting on horseback and on foot is astounding. On foot, you only serve to get combo’d and fall prey to his large AOE attacks. Once Radahn is attacking another enemy, gallop up to him and get in a few hits, then run.

If he’s chasing you and has an attack prepared, you can most likely outspeed it or dodge it on horse. Then lure him to your allies. If your allies die, then re-summon them. Keep on going with hit and run tactics.

Phase 2:

At just below half health, Radahn will jump out of the Arena, then crash in with an incredibly large AOE blast that you are most likely not going to dodge on foot. Stay on the horse, and don’t stay where he was when he was shooting arrows. Use audio cues to know which side he’s coming from when he crashes in.

Phase 2 Radahn does more damage, has more ranged attacks, and will kill your summons faster. Radahn summons in 4 homing meteorites that hang over him. Do not get the attention of these meteorites, as they do lots of damage are are likely to end your run in a near-instant. One of his attacks summons in a slew of smaller meteorites that chase you, no matter what. Getting hit by this barrage will knock you off your horse.

My advice for phase 2 is to be more cautious and distant, and let your summons handle it. At this point, you have him just below half health, so just keep it up.

Conclusion:

I can’t offer much advice for his specific moveset, but you should be able to dodge most of it on horseback. He does large, sweeping attacks that combo after each other in quick succession. You can dodge around half of his moveset if you’re behind him, but a good amount of his moves turn him around. Remember, just hit and run.
