Destiny 2 – How to Quickswap with Slug Shotguns

In this guide, I will demonstrate how to quickly swap between slug shotguns for high consistent damage. This method is often used for the final encounter of DSC.

  • Earned from the Deep Stone Crypt raid
  • Assault Mag
  • Auto-loading Holster or Reconstruction
  • Any Perk in 2nd slot

First In, Last Out

  • Earned from Legendary Engrams
  • Assault Mag (don’t bully me for not having it)
  • Auto-loading Holster
  • Vorpal Weapon

Tractor Cannon

  • Earned from Exotic Engrams or sold by Xur
  • Catalyst is need to increase mag size from 4 to 7

Ophidian Aspect

  • Earned from Exotic Engrams or sold by Xur
  • Only for Warlocks

Shotgun Dexterity

  • Found on Season 12 artefact
  • Bought from Banshee-44

Using Two Shotguns

For this you will only need:

  • Heritage
  • First In, Last Out
  • Gloves with Double Shotgun Dexterity

Press your swap weapons key, move forward key and hold/toggle sprint at the same time. By default these are mapped to tilde (~), w and shift respectively.

This will create only slightly faster DPS because by the time you swap back to the first shotgun it hasn’t finished its rate of fire cooldown, slowing damage. To mitigate this, we can swap between three shotguns.

Using Three Shotguns

For this method you will need:

  • Heritage
  • First In, Last Out
  • Tractor Cannon
  • Ophidian Aspect with double Shotgun Dexterity

Set your secondary key binds for move forward, next weapon and hold/toggle sprint to B, N, M respectively. Now press all those keys at the same time to quick-swap.

You can also bind them to one key with a macro using software such as Razer Synapse. Just make sure to put a delay between the pressing and releasing of keys. I have found that a delay of 0.05 seconds works well.

Meaning to the Madness – Taniks DPS

Note: This section assumes you know the mechanics

Setup Phase

For add clearing use your grenades and melee or tractor cannon if necessary. To get the cores off Taniks use whatever slug shotgun has more ammo and shoot the core twice. Dunk all four cores and reload your weapons for damage.

Damage Phase

Pop bubble outside of the damage area. Enter the damage area and place a well. Start using the three shotgun strategy beginning with Tractor Cannon. After Taniks kicks you out of his arc bubble, reload Tractor Cannon, let auto-loading holster reload the slug shotguns and refresh Weapons of Light. Repeat, refreshing damage buffs and placing a new Well or Bubble if necessary.
