Cyberpunk 2077 – Hacking Tips

The hacking tutorial is impossible to fail and gives player’s the wrong idea on how the hacking actually works. After an embarrassing amount of time, I’ve cracked the code and it’s brain-dead easy.

So You Think the Hacking Sucks

The hacking doesn’t suck, it’s just poorly taught to you and, if you don’t figure it out on your own, it can be literally impossible. Lucky for you, I’ve cracked the code (pun intended) and it’s actually really, ridiculously easy. Refer to the Image and the section I typed below:

The Hacking grid looks something like this:

  • [00] [10] [20] [30] [40]
  • [01] [11] [21] [31] [41]
  • [02] [12] [22] [32] [42]
  • [03] [13] [23] [33] [43]
  • [04] [14] [24] [34] [44]

The most basic and recurring hack is going to ask for two selections. For example, let’s say that the necessary string is [00] [03]. To do this, you’re first going to select [00], then [03]. You start off with the row then switch to the column. Pretty easy. Now let’s put that into in game context.

To activate the ICEPICK daemon, we need [55] and [55] in sequence. Since we start in the top row, we have to select one of those [55]. Keep in mind that once one is selected, our window for selecting the next segment is coming from a column. If you were to choose the very first [55], you’d be hosed since there’s no [55] in that column. You’d have to choose either the second or third [55] in that row, because they have another [55] in that column.

The MASS VULNERABILITY daemon requires a sequence of [55] [BD] [E9]. So to activate it, we need to start with a [55] in the top row that has a [BD] in its column which, in turn, has an [E9] in its row.

The important thing to remember is that you can select any segment in the selection column or row.

The tutorial makes it seem like you can only take one step in the column or row, but that’s not the case.
