This is a step-by-step walkthrough of the fourth chapter of The Dream Machine. This guide is for those who are stuck in certain places in the chapter. It is not recommended to rely on this guide too much; it will detach from the gaming experience. Use this guide only if you are REALLY stuck and you cannot progress.

Mr Morton’s Laboratory

Note: Credit goes to warden

  • Get the receiver and sender device. 
  • Leave your flat. 
  • Go to basement 
  • Go to the surveillance room. 
  • Go to the monitors.

  • Write down or screenshot the screen numbers with the black corners. 
  • Go to 1st floor and enter Mr. Morton’s office. 
  • Go to the secret door on the right and examine the code written.

  • Turn the stereo’s handle as written in the code(Clockwise 6 times, counterclockwise 1 time, clockwise three times in order). 

Enter Mr Morton’s laboratory.

  • 1. Click on the water faucet on the wall. It will unscrew(?) from the wall and you can pick up the faucet. 
  • 2. Pick up Mr Morton’s notebook. 
  • 3. Click on the ashtray. You will find a lighter inside. 

  • Examine the table.

  • 1. Pick up the pestle from the mortar. 
  • 2. Pick up the beaker. 
  • 3. Pick up the pills. 
  • Examine the notebook. 

  • Rip off the page with the cupcake and pizza sauce. It will reveal a secret ingredient. 
  • There will be two pages of brain photos. The second page says “Door Code A to B”

  • The two brain images will have A and B, respectively. Turn the two pages so that the letters A and B align. It will reveal the door code.

  • Press the door code to open the metal door. Enter the other room. 

The Sleeping Powder

  • Pick up the pills. 
  • Use water faucet with the big cactus like plant in the tub. 
  • Open the faucet. There will be cactus sap dripping from the tap. 
  • Collect some cactus sap with the beaker. 
  • Go back to Mr. Morton’s laboratory. 

  • Look back in the ingredients for the sleeping powder. You will need flower pedals that you can get from the cactus plants in the lab(the color of the pedals may vary with each playthrough).
  • Get the correct flower pedals for the sleeping powder. 
  • Go to the table. 

Now to make the sleeping powder:

  • Open valve. 
  • Use lighter with burner. 
  • Put a pedal on the spoon on the right side. 
  • Move the spoon above the burner. The pedals should begin to dry; you can see this from the steam coming from the pedals. As soon as the steam stops rising, quickly remove the spoon from the burner. Otherwise, it will burn to ashes. 
  • Repeat the third and fourth step for the second pedal. 
  • Put the dried pedals and the two pills in the mortar and use it with the pestle. 
  • Mix all the ingredients with the cactus sap you collected in the beaker. 
  • Voila. 

Edie

  • Go to second floor. 
  • Ring the door bell of your neighbor’s flat. 
  • Meet Edie. She will invite you to tea. 
  • Enter Edie’s flat. 
  • Enter the kitchen. 
  • Put the sleeping powder inside the teapot. 
  • Go to living room. 
  • Join Edie’s company. 
  • Ask Edie for a cup of tea. She will leave the living room to grab tea. 
  • Tell Edie that the tea is getting cold. They will fall asleep. 
  • Put the sender device on the sleeping Edie. 
  • Put the receiver device on yourself. 

Edie’s Dream

  • Look in the wall where the photos are hanging.

  • Move the kitchen photo on the left hand side of the living room photo, where you are currently at. 
  • Go to the kitchen. 
  • Pick up the photo of the hallway. 
  • Go back to the living room. 

Arrange the photos in the wall like this:

  • Now you can go to the other side of the kitchen. 
  • Examine the fridge. You will see a torn-out piece of the kitchen’s photo. 
  • Go back to the living room. 
  • Combine the kitchen photo with the torn-out photo. 
  • Go to the kitchen. 
  • Find a photo of a young man. 
  • Remove the photo’s frame. 
  • You can now combine the man’s photo with any of the room photos. 
  • Put the man’s photo in the hallway photo.

  • Pick up the bedroom photo in the hallway. 
  • Go back to the living room.

  • Go to the bedroom. 
  • Pick up the photo of Edie. 
  • Remove the frame of the photo. 
  • Go back to the living room. 
  • Combine the kitchen photo (with the young man’s photo) and Edie’s photo. 
  • Go to kitchen. 
  • Pick up the photo of the bathroom. 
  • Go back to the living room. 
  • Combine the bedroom photo with the young man’s photo and Edie’s photo. 
  • Go to bedroom. 
  • Pick up the photo of the front door. 
  • Go back to the living room. 

Arrange photos like this to go to the bathroom:

  • Go to bathroom. 
  • Find photo of an old lady. 
  • Remove the frame of the photo. 
  • Go back to the living room. 
  • Combine the hallway photo with the young man’s photo, Edie’s photo, and the old woman’s photo. 

Arrange photos like this to go to the front door:

  • Go to the front door. 
  • Pick up the door stop. 
  • Use the door stop with front door. 
  • Go back to the living room. 
  • Arrange the room photos so that the living room is connected directly to the front door. 
  • Take the old woman’s photo. 
  • Go to the front door. 
  • Go to the front yard. 
  • Talk to Edie. 
  • Show the old woman’s photo to Edie. 
  • Edie will lower her sewing bag. Put the old woman’s photo in the bag. 
  • Tell Edie to raise her sewing bag back up. 
  • Tell Edie to cut the photo with the scissors.
